Angkar

Angkar is what the cadres of the Khmer Rouge were known as to the general public.  There were no specific names given, and many citizens had no idea whether Angkar was an individual or an organization.  There were multiple high ranking officials that made up Angkar, each serving a different purpose.  Some were political faces, military leaders, and different people controlled different aspects of society.  Though they all existed for a different pupose, they all backed the brutal violent, and dehumanizing policies of the Khmer Rouge and were relentless in applying them.
